Wardatrobe's Reddit sizing dataset contains 18 mentions of the original Triple S. The common answer was true to size or half a size down from the wearer's usual size in another brand. Contributors described the shoe as visually chunky but true to length.
This data predates the Triple S.2 and should not be transferred to the redesign as an exact fit rule. Balenciaga now says that both versions run large and should be sized down, while the community data shows that many owners of the original needed only a small adjustment.
Original Triple S construction
Introduced in 2017, the original Triple S is built around the stacked sole that gave the model its name. Its layered upper and broad sole make it look much larger than a conventional running shoe. That visual scale should not be used to judge the internal length.
Materials and details vary between seasons and versions. Some pairs combine mesh with leather-like or suede-like panels, while later listings include leather-free constructions. Clear Sole editions add a visible cushioning unit but remain part of the same Triple S family. Check the product description for the exact pair rather than treating every release as identical.
What changed on the Triple S.2?
The Triple S.2 arrived in 2026 under Pierpaolo Piccioli. Balenciaga retained the three-layer outsole idea but reshaped the shoe with a slimmer profile and a more mesh-heavy upper. The current product description lists a polyester and polyurethane upper, a worn treatment, nine eyelets, two-tone laces and a pull tab at the back.
Those changes make the S.2 visually lighter than the original, but Balenciaga gives it the same basic fit direction: it runs large, so choose a smaller size. Because the upper and sole have been redesigned, do not use the fit of an original Triple S as an exact substitute for trying on the S.2.
How to choose your size online
- Find the EU size of a sneaker that fits you well.
- Measure its removable insole, or measure the inside length if the insole is fixed.
- Ask the seller for the same measurement on the Triple S.
- Start one EU size down, then keep your usual size in consideration if the smaller pair would leave too little toe or instep room.
