Born February 27, 1939, in Himeji, Hyōgo Prefecture, died October 4, 2020. Japanese-French fashion designer who founded the worldwide clothing brand Kenzo. Was one of the first male students admitted to Tokyo's Bunka Fashion College. Moved to Paris in 1965 and opened his first boutique "Jungle Jap" in 1970 at Galerie Vivienne. Known for vibrant prints, bold floral patterns, and combining Eastern and Western aesthetics. Introduced the "Big Look" trend in the 1970s. First Japanese designer to show in Paris in 1970.
