Famous for his pleating technique, A-POC (A Piece of Cloth) concept, and innovative use of technology in fashion. Survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. Studied graphic design at Tama Art University. Worked in Paris and New York before returning to Japan to establish the Miyake Design Studio in 1970. Created Steve Jobs' signature black turtlenecks.
